During the first two weeks of February, Hanawalt Fourth Grade Students organized a food drive for the Des Moines Area Emergency Food Pantry. They made posters and speeches to encourage whole school participation. At the end of the project, classrooms made structures with their donations and were awarded extra recess prizes!
The total contribution was 926 food items, 142 personal products, and 3 items of baby formula proving that Hanawalt has a Huge Heart!
