Double A's, Triple J's and M

An amazing group of fourth grade readers, known as “The Double A’s, Triple Js and M” have been reading 40 books and meeting weekly to discuss the books since October. The Des Moines Public School program is Battle of the Books, or BOB as it is affectionately called. A team of six students read a set list of 40 books and then competed with other schools by answering questions about each book and the books’ authors names. Our fourth grade team consisting of: Alexandra Brown-Law, Miranda Gruber, Jack Heston, Anna Owenson, Jack Romp and Jacob Thompson competed last year as third graders. They came back together this year to represent Hanawalt in the west-side schools' competition on March 27th at Central Campus. They won third place. Great job BOB team!

And they couldn't have done it without the patience and support of their team mentor, Tilda Swanson-Brown. Tilda has coached the team for the last two years and is looking forward to turning the page on next year as well. Thanks Tilda for your continued support of BOB.
