January - News from First Grade

First graders will soon be publishing another genre of writing! The students will expand their writing skills as they write nonfiction. The children will be learning the format of nonfiction writing by reading books on many topics. They will learn to take notes, add captions to pictures, and include a table of contents. This is often the most popular style of writing as children are able to explore their own interests. So, if you are looking for a new book about tigers, Minnesota, or George Washington, you might want to check out the first grade writing. The books will be hot off the presses soon at a library near you!
